its on the drive, just waiting on doing some welding. its not practical as a family car yet. Will need forward facing seats etc for the kids so £££'s to spend on it yet.

I hadn't replaced the 4 way rad hose as I wanted to flush the system out of oil before I did. Sodding thing just split again in the same place again. I think its seriously weaked from the oil contamination.

rraahh

Managed another couple if coolant flushes today. Notably cleaner finally!

It's going to take another couple I think to get rid of it completely. The replace oil cooler appears to be working perfectly though.

I had the expansion cap off whilst running and there were no bubbles coming through. The cap itself it knackered though and not holding any pressure. The seals seemed to have swelled with the oil. New cap ordered.

Well I got bored waiting for the new expansion cap so cracked open my collection of o rings and fitted some on the old cap that looked "about reet"

Woohoo I've just managed a 30 mile trip, not leaked a drop of coolant, no pressuring of the lines and the heaters working perfect.

Want to build my confidence in it steadily though so will take it for a longer run before trusting it 100%

Bargain motor if that's it!

Glad it looks to be sorted, I know what a mare it can be to have suspected cylinder head problems, I remember pulling my hair out over the sludge I was getting in mine a couple of summers ago.

fingers crossed its sorted anyway.

Now that the water is actually getting a chance to get up to temp before leaking out, its cleaning out loads more oil and gunk out of the system. Will be putting washing powder in it another few times i think!

The heater has become a bit weak compared to when i picked it up. I wonder if the oil has clogged it up. Find out after these changes and then hopefully ill be able to get some proper antifreeze in it.

Next issues is the 3 amigos to sort....

and changing from 3rd to 4th is a bit of a fiddle. Its like the gate is worn or something? Common problem on these? Ive kinda got used to it a bit, but my mrs was struggling this morning with it.

It's not Disco related, but could you show us some pictures of that circular saw? I've often fancied something like that, preferably driven by a flat, flappy belt from a power take off on the back of a Series 1.

Here ya go.

With it hooked up to my ted20

very good , its a long time since ive had anything to do with that type of belt drive though much used when i was a kid, a twist was often put in very long belts

ive got to use it in the next few weeks to chop up aload of logs, i think this time i will put a twist in it and turn the saw around .

I want to convert it to run off a propshaft from the pto to be fair as using the belt as a bit of a faff. Its good fun though :)

Now why does that not surprise me.
What make did you go for.
I bought myself a new compressor a few months back (100 litre one) as I had quite a few air tools still in the box never used and use it all the time now, especially the air file. Not got a riveter though and Christmas is fast approaching:)

just got a cheap'un off ebay for £25

works brilliantly though! I got it for doing the rivets on the rear csw windows and it just makes life so much easier.
