I put some of that lucas stuff in the rexton, it sorted alot of problems but none of which were backlash related.

Ah your sure its not the steering drop arm or something?

I don't think so. The drop arm and all bushes are new. My stepdad drove it up to the pub yesterday and apparently compared to his 90 (2010) it is a lot move vague.

I might give the backlash another go, but it seemed to make the steering judder if I wound it in any more.

haha thats not the 110. Thats a pic of samins 90. The radio still works! and tape player... retro chiq!

Wow, I'm not sure that is quite classed as retro chiq! Not sure I own any cassettes anymore, my days of recording from the radio are sadly over

could be all manner, wheel bearings / track rod ends / play in the swivels (my 3dr is suffering for this) / ujs on the steering column/ front arm bushes (another one my 3dr is suffering with after the previous owner has fitted narrow arms and bushes to the wider axle.... nice!)

. If you have done up the steering backlash that tight you might want to back it off a bit. Has yours got a lift? castor correction done?
Is the problem actually at the back end perhaps? trailing arm bushes etc.

I'll fix your quote :D

Wheel bearings and swivels are new (and adjusted right I hope), TRE's are 6 months old and OE ones. Nope no lift, though does sit higher than others I have seen.

When I took the steering column out it all looked really good so hope it isn't those UJ's as it was a pain to get back in!

There is quite a lot of free play in the steering when you sit with the engine off, so I think it has to be the box. I adjusted the backlash up a bit, then backed it off until it was easy to steer from lock to lock with the engine off, any more and it got hard. Is that right?

Panhard rod bushes (and the bolts!) ok?

Steering drop arm fitted directly pointing forward? (and not any error adjusted out on the track rod end)

It might be worth having my tracking done again actually.

I will check the drop arm, but it seems to go from lock to lock quite happily.

i think with the drop arm its an eccentric cone so you really need it to be at its tightest point when the wheels are pointing directly ahead. If the arm has been fitted on the wrong spline it can mess it up.

Its what i read about somewhere anyway. Could be complete tosh as ive never done any work on a steering box. Sounds plausible though.

Hmmm... kinda. The layout is a bit crap. The builder of it put a huge 200ltr water tank in the front of it, with crap plumbing fittings. This was positioned in such a way as to take up most of its space. Ive removed all that as its a complete waste of time. Id rather use simple 20ltr kubie water tanks as a big water tank like that was a perfect vessel for bacteria to grow in. Would mean having to treat it with chemicals often.

But its useful now for just lobbing all the camping stuff in without filling up the back of the 110 :)

I do fancy building an overlanding trailer, make sure you take lots of pics. Though at the moment I'm trying to save up money for adventures so can't start another project!

sort your 90's problems first :) and the gaylanders :p
Theres always sankeys about, its good to get one thats been done already then modify it. Alot easier. I gave £700 for this one.

That's a really good price, you always seem to find bargains, the only ones I ever see are £3000 for the already modded ones.

Hopefully the FL is being fixed tomorrow, though I have actually enjoyed driving about in the 90. The stereo is better than in the Mini too!

yeah ive seen people wanting daft money for them too. There was an orange one on ebay for £12000 a while back. Mental. Bet it never sold though haha.
Stereo in the 110 isnt hooked up yet. I havent listened to a radio for ages!

I couldn't cope with that, music makes everything better!

Well our prototype vehicle safe was finished yesterday, just waiting for a some countersinking drill bits and countersunk rivets so i can fit it.
