graphic visualiser type stuff

so you need a media server.

Have emailed a friend to ask about arkaos aswell, ive never heard of it. get you a second opinion. I'm used to using things like catalyst, but that will cost you 3K for a licence and the hardware. and its probably over the top for you.

Standby for update. :D

arkaos is good , have a look at screen monkey too, its free, but bloody good at what it does, in built visualisations, layers etc etc.

depends on what exactly you want to do with it, and what you have already.
I use screen monkey and/or Virtual DJ depending on what Im doing

I have vdj pro although I don't like it..we use mainly pcdj vj..for karaoke and music

its just for a visual effect running patterns/graphics etc

i have a friend sending me some free software from the states for you WLM. He has too quote "a butt load of content" you can have also.

Will forward it on to you when i get it. ;)

Vegas isnt really visualiser software though, more editing software, you could possibly make it to at a push, but you'd need one hell of a PC to run full screen hi res previews, my PC has 8Gb ram and a 1Gb graphics (ok, nothing huge, but not exactly lazy) and it struggles if i try to preview hd and make changes on the fly (its fine at 1/2 screen)

Whereas I can use screen monkey, 4 layers on a P4 laptop with 2Gb ram with no discernable issues @1024

had a reply back from me mate. I'm gonna download the program from dropbox. reply below:

"Ya so I've played around with some of the vj software and I think theres two routes you can go without spending too much on a full blown media server. You said your buddy was a DJ so if he uses serato they have an add on called SL Video where you can sync visual media with different audio tracks giving you the ability to control/ manipulate both the video and audio through the turntables/ cdj's all through one program. I think that runs about 150 USD. Then the other option is to use a VJ Software like we were doing on M. The program we used was Resolume which has two programs, the basic one called avenue for 300 euros and the more advanced one called arena for i think like 700. The only real major differences is in arena you have a few more output settings and you can do video mapping and gives you DMX control and a few other add ons but you can see all the differences online. Another program I've messed around with is Arkaos GranVj which is about 279 euros. It really is all about personal preference because there are just so many different VJ softwares and most of them will let you download a trial of the software so you can play around with them and see which one you like best. As far as what we used on M I was happy with resolume you just need to buy some sort of midi controller to map everything that way everything is right there when you need it, we used the apc 40 and it worked great, the program is really easy to map.

With that being said I have a copy of arena, I would just need to put it on a drop box/ file sharing site for you to download along with the gopro footage from chile. I actually just got the new black hero 3 for christmas and its pretty bad ass, definitely worth the upgrade. Anyways let me know if that would help and I can try and find a site for us to use. Hope all is well. "

So there you go. Standby for the free copy. im having ****ty slow computer issues at the moment!

I have 1 hell of a pc that runs it with no problems but then my system was built to do just that. i7 3770k @4.4Ghz , asus z77 sabertooth motherboard, 32gb corsair vengeance 16000Mhz ddr3, 2x msi Hd7870 2Gb gddr5 windows7 on a ocz vertex 4 SSD and 4 tb of storage on 7200rpm drives. all powered by a corsair hx1000 cost £600 getting the bits online and from the us. I use Vagas pro with a few plugins like gen arts.

I do like screen monkey though its just as good uses less and costs half as much.
