hi im new to all this so ill say hello and get on with it :D
ive recently bought a landrover freelander on a w(2000) plate nearly everything is fine, apart from when driving, @ 3000rpm on every gear change there is a vibration @ 3500rpm it gose away it feels like its coming from the middle (prop) but i know these things can be deciving, its bloody frustrating  trying to get a smoothe ride, so the moral is any advice or help from any 1 would be greatfully appreciated thanks ......... jay

I have the same problem, everytime I switch my radio off I can hear a new creak or groan so tend to leave it switched on. Think its just a freelander thing

I had a similar problem on my 2000 XEDi. Found that the exhaust bracket that is bolted to the gearbox was cracked. Replaced it and all is fine. Could possible be somehing similar you are experiencing. No easy to detect, as it sits in an ackward spot, and is not easy to remove. You can only get to it from below, but the plastic tray under the engine is in the way. But you can inspect it by shining a light onto and hopefull are able to see if it is cracked.

check fourebs solution. . . .un also get underneath un check all mounting parts on rear wiff a crow bar [for movement of mounting bushes ect] un best oh luck earthling :)

Have had the same problem on my 98 XEDi "TWICE"....rear diff mountings were the first problem but easily sorted the second was'nt so obvious at first (I was thinking the worst,IRD) but the tyres had worn very unevenly on the rear ( Due to a seized Viscous coupling ) again fairly easy to change. I was running it on Good Year Wrangler All Terrains wich are quite nobbly. Changed to a more road biased tyre and hey presto...smooth running again ( for now!!). Good Luck:)

Sounds as if possible VCU mounting brackets loose...for some reason they put a very short bolt into these when new (pre 2001 only me thinks) and are often threaded when replacing...If you do remove replace with 35mm M8 (off top of shed so check it fits and about 10mm longer than original) or vcu bearing worn..check for excess play.

Could also pe front driveshaft worn
