Hello all,

I have a 54 plate Freelander 1 automatic model.
At 70 mph, I am getting some vibration through the steering wheel. All the Tyres are the same make and model, in good condition and pressure’s are correct.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

thanks.
Clive

As the vibration is through the steering, this would normally point to a wheel being out of balance, so check that all the balance weights are still stuck on, and it's probably worth having the front wheel balanced as a starting point.

Also make sure the rear tyres less worn than the front? ;)

Thanks for your reply.
I thought it may be something to do with balancing, just wondered if there was anything peculiar to a Freelander 1.
Got it booked in for tracking and balancing on Saturday.

The Freelander can suffer from front inboard tripod (CV) joint wear, which can induce vibration. However this type of vibration generally causes the power unit (engine/gearbox/IRD) to shake on its mountings (particularly if the lower tie bar bush has gone soft). Power unit shake is normally visible through the gear stick, which will noticeably shake forward and backwards under acceleration.

Thanks for that, I’ve sorted it, tracking, alignment and wheel balancing.
