Hey Everyone

Rather strange thing happend to me on Friday and on the way into work today. After driving the disco about 15-20 miles i started to get quite a serious vibration when acclerating or when crusing above 60, i think basically whenever there is some load on the drive train.

Its noticeable around 25mph and gets faster as speed increases. I tried changing down a gear and the vibration is the same which tends to suggest something further on from gearbox like a prop, diff or driveshaft.

But what could it be that only happens after driving it for quite a while? On friday it only happened for about 0.5 mile before i got home so didnt take too much notice then was fine over the weekend on short journeys.

I am getting the gearbox and diff oils changed while I am at work today as they are overdue so will see if that makes a difference but tbh i dont think it will. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions gents, i got it up on a mates ramp today and checked over everything and couldnt feel anything obvious in the driveshafts or props. As we lowered it down by chance he leant against the front wheel and it wobbled rather badly. Not sure what its called but turned out to be one of the small bearings at the the top and bottom of the hub assembly had disintegrated, nothing to do with it warming up so i was barking up the wrong tree with that idea.

Hi FT, what you are referring to are the "swivel bearings" - very common wear issue. Paddocks to a kit of parts to do this job, see linky:
