Anybody got any ideas
I have a vibration which at times is quite severe, comes on around 48-52mph, I have had each wheel off and rotated them including spare wheel doesn't affect it so I don't think its the wheel balance, changed one of the UJ's on the rear drive shaft as it was slightly worn ,no change,
I don't think its from the front end as I cant feel it through the steering
I am stumped at the moment

Take the rear prop off and try in diff lock, then repeat for front (after refitting rear obviously!). When prop is off check diff input flange / pinion for looseness and similarly check t/box flanges. When you have rear prop off make sure you refit flange nuts (with a spacer if need be) to ensure parking brake drum is firmly held on the flange.

Can you rotate the tyre up to 48-52 mph?
Doing what Kwakerman says will narrow it down to one axle and check out some bearings. As tyres wear they can go out of balance as West Slope Rover says. If they wear unevenly then they will lose balance.

Vibrations are usually propshaft ujs. I thought mine were fine and couldn't find where the rumble/vibration was coming from and it turned out I'd missed the front uj was shot one the first time I checked. Give it a good push and pull

When you have tried the prop disconnect etc, if you cant find it put the spare on and try that on each corner.

Missus Golf had a vibration tried all sorts wasnt until i swapped a tyre realised it was misshappen.

Uj most probable but dont discount the tyres.

Mind you a tyre swap would be easier than prop on and off unless you have good workshop facillities.

Be sure to let the forum know what it was, when you find it

He said he has rotated them including the spare already - come on get a grip and get with it :D:D:p:p

Hi already rotated the tyres staring with the spare test drove it then swapped the next onetest drove it etc
cant find anything wrong with the prop though as I said already replaced 1 uj

i often jack and prop the vehicle with all 4 wheels off the ground ,run engine and a choose highest gear possible ,bad tyres will show as gap between ground and tyre fluctuates, other issues if wheel wobbles ,props vibrate etc
