Evening all. My 52 td4 has just started to get a vibration from under the car, in between the front seats area. When accelerating hard up hill it realy vibrates almost feels like someone thumping under the car. It reverses when on full lock fine, no braking effect at all. any ideas before it goes to the garage? Do the vcu's suffer from this even if they are free running?

atvb Paul.

An update. car had a sevice and when the vcu and bearings were checked they were ok. Did have a track rod end done and a wheel bearing as well as a gearbox oil seal replaced. They think the vibration is due to worn rear tyres so goes in monday for two new ones on the back. However, this afternoon things have moved a step on, anything above 40mph and the vibration/knocking realy starts and the gear stick vibrates dramaticly, enough to scare the whats a name out of you. Surely this can't be down to tyres?

That needs checking out. Get the tyres fitted, if that fixes it, ok. If not, get it checked out at a garage.
