Ok ,
In a nutshell...
I got stuck last weekend where the car decided to immobilize itself. Had a gent turn up randomly who owned a discovery 2.. he scanned and managed to find the problem. Inertia switch was triggered.. managed to bypass it with a wire, and turn of a key and it started straight away. We had to use the EKA code to get into the car aswell.

Now it's currently still got the bypass in, and it's runs and unlocks and locks great with the key in the door. I still don't have any Central locking on the key fob (I have to use the key in the door). I bought a new switch, plugged it in.. alarm went off and no power going to the fuel pump.. just cranks over ..removed the brand new switch, put the bypass cable in and turned the key... Started 1st try with power going to the fuel pump..

What the actual hell is going on..

*Do I need to resync the key to the car now after using EKA code

Has anyone else experienced this, if so please shed some light :(

Very strange indeed cos the inertia switch has nothing to do with the EKA code but once tripped it triggers the central locking to unlock all the doors and brings on the hazards but it should not trigger the alarm or immobiliser whatsoever, to reset the sequence you have to give an unlock command with the fob... did you push the new switch after you plugged it in? cos as it was transported the inertial contact was probably open. If the fob doesnt work it's a coincidental issue and needs troubleshooting cos it can be the fob itself or the RF receiver(these are the most common) but if you are unlucky it can be more complicated like IDM or BCU issue, inserting the EKA would not unsynk the fob... if you have access to dedicated diagnostic tool run a RF test for the fob or go by luck and replace the RF receiver if the LED on the fob comes on when you push the buttons.

Thank you ,

Yes it's super strange. Yes I made sure the button was pressed when I put the new one in. It's super strange! And the key fob was ok last time I used it.. the led does show when pressed and new battery was put in for good measure

Check continuity across the new switch's terminals cos if it's closed it should have the same effect like a bypass unless it's an intermittent interruption in the wiring or in the connector... if it's open after it was pushed means it's DOA

I'm hoping to find someone that has nano com to have a gander to see what's what. It's driving me crazy
