veggie oil!!!!

hello folks iv'e got an r reg 300tdi disco an with the rising cost of what once was the cheapest fuel , coz apparently its was cheaper to make Ha Ha!!! am thinking of running it on a veg oil/ diesel mix of about 20 percent, iv'e read loads on the forum about it BUT IS IT WORTH IT???
do they run ok?
how long have you been running your disco on veg oil?
has anyone had problems?
is there any legal probs if my tank gets dipped by customs?
and how often shuold i change the fuel filter?

been running mine now for 500 mile's without any show of problem's ..

had no starting problem's or loss of power and it's quieter..

mine's a g reg 200tdi running 50/50

know what ya mean about the price of diesel. I have an L reg 200tdi and have been using veg oil for the last 10 months with no problems. The disco is a daily driver. I normally go 50/50 during the summer months and thin it down further during the winter, and it does seem to run a lot smoother and quieter plus it smells better. During that period i have changed the fuel filter about 3 times, cleaned out the fuel sediment bowl about the same and i change the oil&filter every 3000 miles. This may seem a bit excessive but this old girl needs to keep on running
