Hi, I have just tried testing my VCU as seen on this site(turning back wheel whilst jacked up) however there was no resistance at all and I can move the wheel fine. It's an auto so tried with it in drive, park and neutral but same result. What des his mean as everything I have read says it should move with force if ok or nt at all if seized?

Maybe that explains it then:) thanks for the reply, at least I can stop worrying that that's the problem, was sounding like it could have been expensive.

No vcu fitted to the Freelander 2 so the one wheel up test won't work. Not the first time it's been tried. Well done for putting the effort to try though.

Thanks all. Back to the drawing board then. My car is making a wheeling/cluncking when I first start the engine. It's worse when I have right lock on and am accelerating. Sounds like mettle scraping on metal. Ay ideas?

It could be anything. The FL2 is a complex vehicle. If you don't know your way round a car really well, a LR dealer or independent is your best bet.

Thanks for the advise, think I will just need to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer. Live in the middle east and parts seem to be 2-3 times more expensive so was a bit reluctant to take it. Can do a lot of bits myself but it's the identifying whatneedso be done that is he hard bit! Thanks anyway

Get some to start yer hippo while yer outside it so yer can see/hear where it's coming from. Tell us what happens.
