Hi have been told it maybe worth me changing the valve stem oil seals on my 90 ,is it easier to take head of and do on the bench or can they be done on the engine .
Valve stem oil seals replacement.

why ? smoke on start up or other symtoms
as long as you have piston at tdc you can remove the collets and springs on that cylinder plus its corresponding cylinder ie 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, you can make or buy a lever for compressing the springs ,similar to this

Every seal on my head was lifted from the seating used a socket to push new ones fully onto seating.
