Hi, my discos been runnin rough recently and an old boy told me to look at the distributer cap in the pitch black to see if there were any sparks, well i just went outide and at 1st didnt think i could see anything but when i looked closer at the ignition coil there was a spark leaping from the HT lead to 1 of the spades next to it! I then looked carefully at the HT leads leading to the plugs and wherever they come into close contact with anything they are also producing tiny little sparks everywhere!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

and make sure everything is clean and dry

cheers buddy but forgive my ignorance what do you mean by everything? I did think it was the leads but ive not long replace em, is there anything else that could be causing the problem or can leads sometime fail quite soon (they are performance silicone ones bought from paddocks)? i do need to sort it a s a p as the Mrs is refusing to go out in it @ the mo incase it conks out on her!

everything meaning coil dizzy leads wires, i aint no expert but if u got sparks jumping from leads they is no good :)

Don't forget to replace the distributor cap. Mind you if its a new set of leads, you shouldn't get sparks jumping off the leads. You normally only get problems at the ends where you get tracking. Its a bit rare these days, but I'd be thinking the leads were faulty.
