Hiya everybody matey peeps, im looking at getting a better sound out of my 1997 v8 Disco.

Ive been looking at center box bypass pipe for £50 delivered from fleabay.

What do you reckon?? do you think it will give me that sound im looking for.......(fookin move out of my way thing) :crazy_driver: lol

I run on lpg if that makes any difference.would it affect my fuel economy(like there is one) lol

Anyone done this?

Oh and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

Just having a back box will give a rounder deeper sound and it might rasp a bit when you throttle off, depends on how near the end of the pipe the box is, you could put the front box at the back and do away with the back box if you were brave, not sure how loud it would be though.

probably save about three to four pence a week in fuel as well :D

I bought a new system for my merc which did away with the middle box and it runs much nicer and sounds great when I wind it up, but on normal running it's just a tad louder.

Dont go too loud tho cos at the start it sounds ok, then it drives you nuts. Used to work on rally cars and put a similar system on my own car and when cruising it drove me up the wall.

If you want to do it properly, fit new manafolds and a tried and tested system, google the bowlers for etc.

It might run a bit lean tho so worth getting it checked after the mod, although bad joints and drawing air tends to have more impact so take your time, fit a quality part and enjoy the great sound of the v8.

Jokes aside, would a Range Rover classic exhaust be persuaded to fit, my Range Rover sounds very nice, mind you it's got SU's, just a thought folks.

Andy.:)

With a welder and a hacksaw you can get anything to fit mate, if it's just sound you are after hack out the centre box make up a pipe with ends that will slip over each side, cut slots in them and clamp em together.

If you want a bit of air sook, then fit a replacement filter, then instead of taking the air from the normal route through the poofy pipe leading to the grill, cut the arse out the box and let it breath straight through the filter.

My merc is modified like that and the supercharger sounds brill, dont go wading tho.

?????

are they good? and what are SU's

Ye kinda on a budget(aint we all) it is sound im after

will this make my fuel economy worst (middle box bypass pipe)??

Daz

I fitted a "Double S" exhaust from rimmer bros on my P38 and it sounded absolutely bloody gorgeous. Not particularly loud but a nice deep burble. 287 quid though- probably more than my disco's worth!

you could buy two lengths of pipe and two cherry bombs for way less than that and have a better nose. I have a range rover powered ford cortina with chery bombs on it and it sounds like a yank muscle car from the 60's

Just fit a cat back Janspeed stainless steel system then you will have a tuned V8 sound.

where can you get those? RPI only sell the full system & bloody expensive

The double S ones for the disco look a bit lame in the pics, no different to the standard job!?

oh yeah, just managed to rip off my rusty old manifold without breaking a bolt, go me!

Janspeed have a site. Also, although some only do stuff for cars not 4x4's there are Janspeed approved suppliers who my give you a small discount. Just Google "Janspeed" I got £20 plus free P&P and the CAT back system came direct from Janspeed within four days.

rip all the exhaust off and fit a twin system with a pair of cherry bombs at the back. It'll sound the bollocks!

:hysterically_laughi they was the dogs bollox when i was a lad. me mate had a 2.8 injection capri with two cherry bombs it sounded like a lamborghini and rattled ya rib cage if you stood at the back when he tickled the throttle !
ohhhh remanissing about the days of youth

Hmmm, been through them all, only freeloader & P38's listed. Guess they've been discontinued.

So have I just, Janspeed site is not working I got mine from Performance Car Parts / EBC Brakes / Eibach Lowering Springs / Koni Suspension Kits / Magnex Exhausts / Powertec Induction Kits - Euro Performance but they don't do disco anymore. I wonder if there's a prob with the company
You could try Scorpion Racing they are a Janspeed agents

OK if you want a system for a Capri :)

I removed the centre silencer on my last V8 Disco and it was a great sound when driven hard or when idling - but when driving normally it had the most god awful resonance from 2000 to 2500 rpm - right in the 50 to 70 mph area.
The noise from my missus moaning about it was worse so it didn't stay on for too long.
