V8 rebuild going pickup route?

Hello all again,

Well ages ago I bought a V8 disco on ebay stole the bumpers etc for my other disco and was going to do a complete rebuild. Well some months later its all stripped down to reveal the horrors. Usual rear arches, floor, xmember, inner arches.
Well got it all stripped and now not sure where to go - seems allot of work and silly jobs to do a complete rebuild. Then saw a pickup diso. I know I know but it would be ideal for my needs would love a defender but cant really afford a decent one and as I already have a disco with a good chassis and good body work seems an idea especially as apparently it cuts out all the problem areas and over 50% of the rot. If I never stripped it all down I would have just sold it and kept an eye out for a defender.

Just wondering if anyone has done it looking at costs and any other info. If there is anyone wanting a stripped down V8 let me know especially if you have a defender lol.

it'll look ****, have no resale value and be more hassle than its worth, you'll get ****ed off with the build and scrap a perfectly restorable disco

Yep. Don't do it. Don't get an lovely looking and well balanced vehicle and butcher it.

Whats the best way forward then? The chassis and body panels are ok but under the car, floors etc are fairly rotten, its going to cost loads to replace everything. Think ill try and sell dont know what ill get for a half stripped down one and then try for a defender.

make the panels yourself its just flat plate for most of it, panels aren't even that expensive
