v8 rebore ?

hello

i have been on the forum recently as i am looking into rebuilding my pride and joy series 3 v8.

i have been looking at rebuild kits for the 3.5 sdi v8 and i have seen that it can be converted to a 3.9. With the fitting of some new liners. It says that to keep the original 3.5 just needs rebored.

Bit off track but i no that there are bored that can be removed or pressed out on tractors . So is there liners in the v8 block to be pressed out ?

because me and my mate are disagreeing on this matter . so i am looking for help either way.

Any ideas where to find a kits been looking about and only seen rimmer brothers. I fancy the change of the rebuild done it on my 2.25 landy deisel oh and also to say sum money.

.....i don't know if they are pressed out....but i'm sure they are removable......why do you want to change it to a 3.9?

Thanks for the reply. That was just what the kit said. You get it rebored or put in the 3.9 liners .

i new i was right that will be a good i told u so.:doh: after arguing for a while with my mate . would like to but dont think i will bother with the 3.9. it is prob going to cost me enough to do it.

plus a would presume that need to charge or alter carbs and dizzy etc.

rebore 3.5 with +20 pistons make sure it is honed 1thou to size ,3.9 is 200 thou larger than 3.5 ,the tractor liners you mentioned are a different kettle of fish altogether,3.5 liners have to be bored out and you cant just press new liners in as easy as that, theres a lot of maching to do, you need to buy piston first so bores can be done to piston size + clearance

I would look at v8 developments site for reference or ask mr Martin direct.......there are things involved with rebores that i havn't got involved with......

Think you for all you feed back it appriciated. new plan of attack may be to try get an old rotten range rover with 3.5 or 3.9 efi or something and do it that way.

I dont mind spending the money but i do if you no what i meen. I only drive her now and then for fun so spending shed lots of money am not realy up for it as its not my main mode of transport as i have a hilux.

never no my plan might take another total u turn again am not going to rush into anything !!
