Guys,

I have done a search on this but, nothing I can find on the forum quite matches the issue I have...... So, I have a 4lt V8 p38 Range Rover of which is running on LPG, it runs extremely well, however I seem to be losing coolant somehow(around a half litre in a week)??! I have checked to see if the oil is ok, no gunk/white stuff on the filler cap or in the oil? I have also had a look around and can't directly see any leaks?!!! It doesn't over heat and the temp gauge heats up nicely to around the half way mark?
I certainly don't think its a head gasket issue.....No loss of power etc... Could it be the water pump leaking maybe or the radiator, which Im led to beleive is an issue on these engines?:confused::confused::doh:

Thanks In Advance,

T.

Thanks Fanatic!!

I'll give those things you've listed a go.....

Im guessing the Rad cap is a common problem then right at the top of the list?!!!!

Thanks,

T.

also the thermostat is in the bottom radiator hose, at certain temperatures they can leak on the centre join.

It can be a bugger to spot and close observation several times in several hours after running it only way to spot
start with rad cap and go from there

You need to do a static pressure test, your coolant is being lost as steam.Pressurize the cooling system overnight and look for the drips in the morning.

On our Disco 2 V8 we had a series of very slow leaks at hose joints, which added up to a cupful every few days.

Most were leakage past the 'spring clip' type of hose clips, and once we fitted Jubilee clips that cured those, but be careful with how much you tighten them, the plastic spigots don't take a huge amount of overtightening before they collapse.

Next were the heater stubs on the bulkhead, corrosion on the tubes themselves allowed water to seep past the hose, so we wire-wooled them clean and refitted with new hoses and clips.

Last was the small hoses on the throttle body heater (Thor 4.0) which had a small weep.

Got to the stage now where we don't lose any water, but still keep a tight watch on the level!
