Hi all. Will soon be picking up a series 3 landrover with a petrol v8. Was wounding what would be needed to for something like a 200tdi engine into it

Thanks

If the V8 is installed well and set up right why change ? They are nice to drive and if you do not play with the performance not to different to a 2.25 petrol on fuel usage. You can buy a lot of fuel for the cost of changing to a diesel engine unless you intend to do a lot of miles ?

And even if you intend to do a lot of miles - why did you buy a Series 3? :lol

On a more serious note if fuel usage is a concern you can convert to LPG.

if you wanted a 200tdi why not just buy one already done, there always seems to be one on ebay? seems a shame to take out a v8 unless as previously mentioned the engine has had it.

Its not dr_evils abomination is it? If so then I understand completely :D

I'd keep the v8 though or if you really want a tdi conversion, theres always a few around for sale on ebay and in landy mags etc :) V8 will be smoother and probably quieter than a tdi

It'll sound better as well!

A V8 might be slightly easier on the gearbox and drive train as well, smoother power delivery rather than the turbo kicking in and give a wallop a whole load of power.

It was mainly for some of the miles we plan on doing and the fact i can run it on Veg.

It was a joint buy as a mate wanted it for his events company that he does. not really planning in going off road with it. especially in any water..

I am assuming this is not a Stage 1 v8! If so, :emps1:

Putting a 200 tdi into a regular series 3 has been covered on loads of threads on here and elsewhere.

Even if its a converted 2.25 or 6 cyl, removing a v8 to put a diesel in to any car is a sin in my book! Why not just buy a tdi 90 or 110 and leave the v8 alone:D

Think of it as like leaving Kate Moss as she was too high maintenance and marrying Thora Hird as she's nice and reliable! Sort it out.
