V8 petrol oil

I've been chewing over what oil to buy for a few days now for my 51k mile 4.4 V8 petrol.

I used Vauxhall's 10w40 semi for my 2.5TD P38 changed every 6k. 10 litres and a filter (Omega used the same BMW engine) for £28 on trade club prices and it was fine.

So after checking all the spec and info I've finally decided on Vauxhall's 5w30 fully synthetic oil. It has all the requirements for the engine in question and has just cost me £54 for 20 litres, plus £9 for a genuine filter.

I'll probably change oil every 7.5 miles for that money.

RAVE says 0w40 but my manual states four different choices including 5w30 and it protects from -30c to 35c.

Also all the oil checker websites seem to go with 5w30 too.

Just wondered what you guys used with what mileage intervals and your thoughts?

I was going to buy the Comma 5w40 £29.99 (Same as Halfords 5w40 £36.99).

Comma recommend the 5w30 too.

But the GM is just too good value.

Castrol GTX 10W40, bulk 20L pack from Makro at £38.95 + VAT. I use that in both my 4.6 RR and my BMW R1100RS.

Are you sure, is there a 10w40 Edge?

There is a 5w40.
