i have a seris 3 that i am changing the front end on it to a defender type. i was going 2 put a v8 in it but ive just been offered a 2 1/2 diesel from a mate. i dont use the vehicle much really its just a toy when i want a bit of fun so the thirsty v8 wouldnt really b a problem but r they any good for when u want 2 get down and dirty????

Gotta be a V8....................Oh, and dun't put the Pretender frunt end on. My V fits fine without messing up the 'proper landy' Series frunt. Mr Y might want ter disagree with me mind!

Further reasons? Unless yer putting a Tdi injun in, your 'toy' will be dull as dishwater. I got 16mpg out of my V8 before fitting my overdrive, 20mpg on a good run now, but frankly, I barely care. It's a fekin blast ter drive, sounds fab, outruns kiddies in their Mum's Corsas off the lights & is brilliant off road.....even wading. No need to uprate your brakes, just make sure they're well looked after.

V8's? The fekin mutts' so they are. :D

I know a bloke wot had a V8 lightweight and he could be seen regularly coming off roundabouts in a sideways fashion!! Absolute blast and like grippa says it sounds excellent, if i had the money id have a V8 with a stonkin loud exhorst

Aye, if ah did anuvva ah'd run it thru an auto box tho'. Mine's thru the original Series g/box. Easiest way & allows me overdrive. S'a good 'gold seal' gearbox, but I'm careful to feed the power in, not jest boot it.................er, too often!

bit late but good choice on the v8!Sounds the dogs danglies, goes like **** of a shovel even in a battered old motor. And off road powers up the hills and that, be sensible with water and it'll be fine!

My old V8 hybrid gave me hours of fun - could keep up with most boy racers in their Hondas and ****roen Saxo's out running in a straight line but not round corners. Put tubular headers on, freeflow centre pipe and a TD5 back box (straight through type like Sebring sports box design) and it sounds very subtle at low revs/throttle but snorts like a TVR when flying :D
