Hi all,

Hope somembody can clear this up for me. Have done quite a bit of reading about the lt77 gearboxes and short stick/ long stick so I think I know the basics for fitting a v8 to one..

My question is if I can get hold of a discovery 1 lt77 v8 fitted gearbox and I have a long gear stick box from a 2.25 petrol from a defender can I swap over the gear change remotes? My plan is to make the discovery v8 lt77 gearbox with short stick remote fit my v8 to go in my 110. I just need to know if this is possible. The input shaft should be correct because it's come from a v8 engine and the bell housing should be the correct length to go straight in my defender with the v8. So can I just swap the gearstick remotes on the gearboxes?

Any help would be appreciated :)

you cant just swap remotes as the box selector shafts are different lengths, the disco shaft is shorter as it uses a yoke and defender a quadrant, ashcrofts produce an apadpter you can use ,its for r380 but could be used for lt77 with the correct quadrant

Thanks for the info! That helps a lot. I had seen the adaptor on Ashcroft. So what would I do about the correct quadrant? I can buy the adapter no issue and I have 2 gearboxes available. One long stick and one short. Both LT77... thanks

Sorry I don’t quite understand what you are trying to say. Buy a later type LT77 quadrant? Or remote gear change unit or?

Apologies again.
