My disco v8 2000 started to make weird coughing noises so last night I popped the bonnet and noticed sparking at the rear of the inlet manifold.

I think its time to change the Leads.

am I correct?

Yes and change the plugs for ordinary NGK BPR6ES ones - they dont require such a high voltage to fire so the leads have an easier time. You just need to change them more often than the platinum ones which is no bad thing as the plat ones tend to stay in so long they drag the threads out with them.

Not if they are nicely slobbered with best coppergrease on the way in!

Thats my point, the factory didnt grease them and the recommended change period is 72,000m.I have had a few that start missing/playing around at 55-60,000,when you take the plugs out they tend to drag the threads out with them.So any I catch with a lower mileage I have them out and change them.
