Do they use the same box?

the reason I ask is I have a 2000 reg Diesel auto and have been offered the dipstick/filler tube from a 1994 V8 auto

would this fit??

Thanks :)

Why would you want to fit the dipstick? Not sure if the boss on the sump is the same on early and late cars. The box is the same.

Just for ease of checking oil level and filling, and because the part is free, just postage :)

Sure...??

4HP22 on 4.0 and Diesel
4HP24 on 4.6
Yep, sump is the same as far as I can determine, later 4HP24's are even the same length as the 22's and the boxes are interchangeable to some extent.
However I think the boss on the sump may be different between the sump fitted with a dipstick and those not so fitted. I will know for sure soon.:)

Well - I've told him to send it up anyway - I'll let you know if it fits and if not I'll pop it on eBay :)

I would think because it is a million times easier to check the oil level with the dip stick, than the ridiculous dealer only on a ramp attempt Land rover made with the later boxes. :):)

So yesterday it turned up in the post and the first thing I noticed was this...

So looks like I'll be off out to find a male/male adapter this Sat morning

Can someone confirm that the drain filler hole is in the same location and that I'm not going to end up mounting this far too high up??

yep all cars for North america has them including Land Rovers, Also there is a different transmission cooler than UK/EU uses.

Right so I had a dipstick sent over from a friend that was breaking a V8 Auto

and the first problem I noticed was ....

Now you're thinking easy just use a male to male adapter?? but notice the cone seat of the dipstick tube and I couldn't find a Male to Male adapter with a cone seat :-(

now just had to find a washer for the other end so I won’t get any leaks from the gearbox end
