Thanks to Nodge68 for the tips, and Kaiser (not on this board) for the alloy thermostat housing, all is well now.

I was not able to use the keyhole method, but I did take tons of pictures. Expect a new thread in a howto style in the future.

If you are in contact with Kaiser, maybe you could invite him to join us here? I'm sure he'll sell some thermostats to us V6 owners

I just noticed he will add a fitting for a temperature gauge if you want.
