My 3.9 V8 D1 has been running very rich and giving 10 - 11 mpg since i bought it.

Ive tried everything short of sticking it into the Land Rover main dealer - i live in Bulgaria and this is considered a BIG NO NO, you might never see it again! - today i noticed that the Ground (-) lead from the battery was not actually connected at the grounding point on the body. I have cleaned it and re attached it and it actually appears to run better!

Is this my imagination hoping this is the solution or may it actually be the answer???

PLEASE say yes..........:5bbanghead:

Well as it looks like no one knows (or ive just asked a question so dumb no one will dignify it with an answer - LOL) ill check the consumption / mixture in a few days and post the results here!

Thats probably Best. After all, your the only person who can tell if its effected your fuel consumption.

If it has improved it someone will then come up with the answer....

Well been out for a fairly long run in very very heavy rain and there is a DEFINITE improvement in the overall running of the engine - the consumption will have to wait till another day as wading through 2 ft of water (no drains over here!) will not really give me a good comparison to go on.
