hi there.
i have a 100 TD and stuck some V-Power in today coz i was bored! and it seem abit smoother, but seems to smoke like a bitch! why would it smoke more? i dont think the slighty smoother-ness anywhere near justifies the extra 6p, but thought id try!

anyone else notice more smoke?

Ive tried it in several cars petrol and diesel and never really noticed any difference
Father in law tried it years ago and did get more mpg but it wasnt enough extra to cover the extra cost.

You probably right! It's stopped smoking as much now, all crap must be cleared! Pretty sure it runs more on oil then diesel anyway :-s haha

Chances are it has extra cleaning agents. Run a tank every few months, or just dump in a bottle of fuel system cleaner for the same effect. The VPower is probably the cheaper alternative for that use.

FLASHBACK - I used to own a TT back when I was a hairdresser and a wincer, now I'm a real man and have had therapy. There were sooooo many boring discussions on the forums about V-power and all those premium fuels. Total crap, not worth the money, especially for a Landy!

Well it's off vpower and still smokes the same if not more! I only seem to be able to see it in headlights at night.... So can't tell the bloody colour!

I'm obsessed with my MPG (on all vehicles i've owned), and I'm also experimenting with vPower at the moment!

See: Mileage

I only filled up with vPower once (by accident) and my MPG was pretty good compared to normal.

I suspect, however, that it was due to the traffic, my driving, and the journeys more than the fuel.

Anyway, I stuck another tank full of it in the other day and I'm burning my way through it again now. I'll have a clearer picture when I next fill up, but it won't be conclusive by any means!

You can see the vPower fillups on the above web page by looking in the "Notes" column.

i use v power in my bmw and defender 110 v8 and you get a clear improvement in both for mpg and performance. not convinced that extra mpg covers extra cost which is usually 7 or 8p per litre. but interestingly the local shell garage has reduced the price differential to 6p recently. perhaps sales of vpower are dropping.

you can only see the smoke in the headlights at night - this when your stopped

you have a 19j with the breather going to a bottle dont you ?

i bet thats why your getting a smoke build up round your front end , the breathers essentially blocked and pressuring - i was smoking round the front when i had my breather to a holed bottle .... loads less smoke with breather to atmosphere in the same place as it was with the bottle on the end - less pressure build up ! comes out gradual rather than in bursts - or blowing out the breather cap !

I took the bottle off and put the breather back after the pressure shot the bottle off and sprayed my engine in oil!

It smokes when under load. I can't see anything in the day, but at night it looks like it's bellowing it out!?? A big smoke screen left infront of the next car ;-)

Used it on my 92 carbed mk2 golf and now my 99 3l v6 mitsi challenger.

On the golf when i used it originaly it ran like **** and didnt like it, Had her put on the RR and asked the bloke about it. He said come back when im almost empty. Went back and he tweeked the carb didnt like running but he said go and fill up with V-Power. Went from 250 - 280 miles per tank to 300 - 310 a tank with v-power and a lot smother and droped the idle down to 700 rpm .

On the challenger I only ran it to clean the system out so im planning on going back to normal but dont think its done that much.

Moral of the story, Your car has to be set up for it

I agree with that! My merc was the same, I had it tuned somewhere between. That was cammed on bike carbs.
