Am I right in thinking it seriously damages the rubber? I'm sure I've heard it somewhere.

it will strip the silicone off em.Rwecoat after with turtle wax wet n black.

back to black on landrover tyres
...it aint a pimp mobileim sure offroading in mud,water,rocks,flints,stones will do more damage than a pressure washer
you don't think a 1200/2400psi jet is going to do a whole lot more damage that just washing away yer back to black ?
if the spray pattern isn't set right it'll drill holes and ridges in the tyres - putting some spray stuff back on isn't going to heal that damage
