Urgent wheel query

Hi folks

I am after some 16" wheels for my 55 plate TD4 so I can get AT tyres. I have found some on ebay fitted with General Grabbers (ideal) - but they are off a 1998 model car, and I am sure I read somewhere that pre 2001 wheels don't fit on the later Freelander 1 models.

Advice would be appreciated so that I don't miss out on these wheels if they will fit.

As it happens, I've got a set of 5 16's that came off an 06 plate just sitting in the garage, no tyres tho

Hmmm... how much do you want for them, and what design are they?

they're the standard 16's that you see on most Freelanders, just had a look on eBay at what they're selling for, would take £125 for all 5, plus delivery to wherever you are, haven't seen anyone so far in the first couple of pages selling them for less than £25 a wheel

Surly it isnt 40 in fuel for that trip not like your that far from each other

Yeah he's in Hull, I'm not that far north of Newcastle. I went to Hull a few months ago to pick something up and it cost me about £40-45 in diesel.

Problem is Hull isn't very direct to anywhere unless you're directly west of it lol

Next query is tyres...

I want to go taller without needing to make other alterations - eg lift kits etc.

Could I use 205/70/16s or could I go even bigger than that?

If you've changed your mind, you can refund me the money if you like. There are others on ebay and breakers yards for around £120 to £150 some with tyres included, so I am fairly confident I can get some for similar money. I don't want you to feel ripped off.

Haven't had a chance to email you back yet, but will do in a minute. Price is fine with me, I'm happy with it!

As for tyres, 205/80 or 215/75 are really the biggest you can do without lift kits, as it happens, was going to email you back regarding lift kits etc too, as we happen to make them if you were after further mods to your car.
