URGENT HELP REQ! td5 Fuel filter

Giving my 110 first service myself and apparently fuel filter hasn't been changed since 1840.

Is there an easy way to do this? I've tried the hand method. The oil filter strap thing, then a ratchet strap, tried pouring boiling water over it, easing oil and tapped the thing with a hammer.

I now have a bashed scraped fuel filter that hasn't budged and I need my car this evening!

HELP!

Is it too badly damaged for your landy to be used? If not then keep going with using an oil filter wrench. If it gets to the point that it is too far gone for you to use your landy then smack a screwdriver or pry bar through one side of the filter and out the other and use that to turn it with.

The filter strap broke..

That was to be my next course of action... I guess if that fails I'm in the brown. Much fuel in there to spew out?

It doesn't hold that much but it looks a lot on your driveway. Undo the bleed on the bottom and drain the fuel into a container first and then do it.

they have a stupid cage around em on the TD5's just to stop you getting a decent grip on em. I've taken mine off. It's more likely to get covered in ****e but easier to get off if it jams

one and all a thank you - job done!

I assume the td5 pump stops making ridiculously loud squealing noises as soon as air leaves the system? Ran the engine for 3 mins and still making a din.

I'd have poured the old diesel from the old filter back in but it was all yellow and manky. Td5 self purges as long as the rail has fuel, yes?

Yes. They normally take a while to settle back down. They do self purge.
