last used the landy last thurs nite on the plain and its been parked up since..
went out tonite to go out in it and the clutch dont work the only resistance on the pedal is from the spring

checked fluid level and thats fine

dont know if its linked but when on the plain the brakes went very very soft and i had to pump the pedal a couple of times for them to work

someone has mentioned hydrauilics to me but dont have a clue on that

the clutch has done less than 800 miles since we put the 200 tdi in and put new clutch in at same time

any help or advice please as i havent got a clue where to start

Fork has maybe pushed through on the pivot point did you change that? Search on here - I did a whole list of checks to work it out about 2 weeks ago, it might have been in the disco secion but same stuff...

Also how old is the master? The seals can go and it won't push the fluid anymore it just moves and the fluid shoots up past the seal yet it won't leak.

Well based on the clutch all being new I would say go for hydraulics for now (I would say that anyway - simple easy stuff first!).

If you seatch for posts by me and go back a little there are a few about clutches recently with the full instructions of how to check the hydraulics.

...the bit that applies to you:

If not, then it's probably going to be hydraulics. Take the little rubber cap off the slave and get a small piece of wood. With the cap off you can see the piston - have someone press the clutch a small amount, I repeat small, while you push the piston back as hard as you can, have them increase the pressure on the clutch untill you feel the piston start trying to push the wood out, watching the piston have your clutcher keep pushing while you hold the wood until the piston is about 1cm from the end of the cylinder - if it manages all that I would say that the hyraulics are OK and it may be broken clutch cover - do you know if this was done when your clutch was done or did they just do the plate?

You can also use a big jubilee clip round the whole slave from the cylinder round the back, tighten it a little and then you can push the clutch out against this; put something into the cylinder so as the clutch comes out it pushes it into the jubilee - a little piece of wood or something, you should meet resistance almost immediatly. If it passes this and there is plenty fluid and the slave is not leaking then you got your problem...
