I've got twin odyssey batteries as house batteries and a standard lead acid starter battery.
120 watt solar panel and split charger keeps things topped up fairly well with standard 200tdi defender alternator.

However with the fridge ruining a bit harder, laptop charger (12 volt charger but consuming 11 amps) on and drinking water pump going, the house batteries are struggling to keep up after a few days without much driving.

Therefore I'm looking to uprate the alternator (and cabling probably).

I've had a browser around online, but haven't got an answer yet.....
Is there an alternator, ideally 100 amp though 65 be better than the existing, that will simply bolt on in place of existing for a Defender 200tdi?

I've seen may be necessary to chop mounting lugs off some?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based upon consumption over last couple days, 100 amp would probably be best if anybody knows one that will fit??

I got one of these of ebay BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR 12V VOLT 75 AMPS LUCAS A127 STYLE PINTO/LEYLAND RIGHT HAND | eBay a year ago. I should have got a left hand model though, so I had to reconfigure it, but no big deal. Mine is a Disco 200 engine. I was a bit dubious at the time as it was so cheap, but the quality looked good when it came and it's not given me a spot of bother. It is a 75AMP, but I would imagine that they also do 100 amp and larger versions.

While on the subject of alternators do any of you know the cheapest place for a twin alt setup on the disco 200tdi engines? Pressbrake knocked up some 300tdi ones but i don't fancy being ripped off by ebay..
