Nice winch. They have progressed from the big warn winch I had in the late 90's
I was looking at hydrolic winches again but motor is waiting for a small rebuild.

I already have a Warrior Apache 9500lb winch but want to move this to the back for rear recovery via snatch block pulleys, bit of a project build when I have replaced the front mounted winch.

I have always really enjoyed the technical aspect of winch recovery and I have been to a lot of P&P days and witnessed a lot of very sketchy set ups, I do understand that we are not all made of money but I do think that with a bit of thought a functional and basic electrics with minimal cash input could see so many better installations. Had I been using a hydraulic winch I certainly would have had an easier time of the power considerations, I could have easily used a second 65 amp A127 as it would only have to charge and maintain the aux power systems, a hydraulic pump as per the mile marker pump set up could have been run in conjunction with a second alternator, most serious bods fit the hydraulic drive direct to the crank so that drive could easily have included the dual drive pulley.

Had a look at hydo winches from red
These look good till you start pricing up pulleys, pumps belts. Oh & a compressor( which you need for yours)
Going back to electric thoughts now.
Easier to fit the rear winch.
Wife shouted tirfor when I mentioned a winch;). Oh why did I sell my recovery Landrover

Need the weather to bugger off so I can get some accurate measurement of the current pulleys & compare the new pulley, got some 6mm plates & a spacer tube lined up for the 2nd alternator mount build, I have my eye on a ViAir on board air system, 10ltr tank with twin cylinder piston pump, I like to air down the tyres and the little £30 eBay special lasted 3yrs so I had my monies worth out of it, bit of a chore blowing up all 4 235/85 cooper stt from 14psi back up to 35psi, but I am also considering using the alternator build as an opportunity to do an OBA build using an old AC pump so my mount would need to be big enough to incorporate the two units.

The more I think about it the more complicated I am making it!

But at least my crank pulley has 3 grooves in it should I want to redesign later, probably best kept on the simply side for now lol
