Upgrading headlights

I've just bought a late 97 R reg Disco. As I'm totally new to this can someone tell me if there is an upgrade i can do on the headlights/indicators etc?

Whats wrong with the ones already fitted ? - is they ant broke dont fix um.

what about just upgrading the headlamp bulbs to xenon , they are the same wattage so no need to change the wiring , they just give off a much whiter light as xenon gas burns brighter.
Just dont be fooled and go for the blue look bulbs ( very gimmicky ).
I am using the xenon bulbs and am very impressed.

Maybe we have differing approaches here - I’d prefer to spend me money on keeping the mechanicals in good working order rather than trinkets, go faster stripes and other assorted unnecessary bling.

If you’ve only just got the Disco run it for a month or 3 whilst saving your pennies because I can almost guarantee that you'll find something to spend your money on that's much more important than changing your bulbs.

As someone said - it depends if you're after the look, or functionality.

Having done some night time greenlaning, I found the standard bulbs were very poor. And with H3, when you click full beam on, the dipped beam switches off so you don't have much light right infront of you.

On saturday I put in new Philips X-treme +80% (check out autobulbsdirect.co.uk) and they are much brighter, whiter and have a greater range than the standard bulbs.

Or go for some spots on an A-bar or light bar across the bumper to improve things.

But, for the love of all that is good and pure, please don't chop up the front of a disco. There are some mods you can make to give it a D2 facelift look, but it's wrong, so very very wrong.

Yes there is an upgrade but I seem to recall it involves cutting out the headlamp brackets and welding new ones in in order to be able to fit the new headlamp indicator unit. not an easy or cheap job. do a google or ebay search. But as said earlier you'd be better advised to hang on to your cash and spend it on something useful. Brighter Bulbs, more lights are the way to go.

Am i missing out on something here - what is the point of changing (i assume) fully working indicator lenses to clear ones?

coz

a) it shows yu are a pratt.
b) yu mite pass fur a drug dealer.
c) it shows yu are "hard".
d) it shows yu got more money than sense.

But – when it’s broken down cos not enough money was spent on the important bits it will look nice (stood still)

and like every other 12yr old wiv a Corsa.

i forgot - yu gotta have the twin 8inch exhausts to go with em

Thanks for all the replies. Even the ones from those who don't seem to realise that upgrading lights, etc, can be done AS WELL AS making sure mechanics etc are looked after.It doesn't have to be an either or.Or at least not for me

Obviously unlike you, i have money AND sense. You really shouldn't let your jealousy manifest itself into such bitchiness. It is clouding your ability to see life doesn't have to be continuously an either or situation. Maybe if you utilised the energy you spend being a big girl's blouse into more constructive activities, you too could afford to look after the outside appearance of your vehicle as well as the mechanical side. Rather than struggling to find the money for repairs.

I have just come across this site, and you lot (with the exception of the one guy who actually talked out of his mouth instead of his behind) are just a bunch of useless morons who dont believe in helping ppl, OR being able to answer a simple question, you are worse than a bunch of old women, bitching and laughing at sensible questions. if they wanted to put brighter bulbs in then that would be the question, however, you dumb asses dont seem to be able to answer the simplest of questions.

AND perhaps you might have to save your pennies for your car to run right, but if the only thing that is needing a little personal tweeking is the headlights, then YOU lot are the ones with the problems.

So get over yourselves and quit acting like the class joker trying to impress everyone, because whats under your bonnet isnt up to scratch and start respecting those who have it and dont need to brag about it.
