Hi guys, first post & mostly car ignorant so please be nice

I have a 2004 Freelander 1 and want to swap out the stereo for something that has Bluetooth & call facilities but that still looks semi-smart.
I've been looking at the 7' screens like this one ...
https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/pr...cOs8gmfAf6kqkCxDDLWefd-Kx_IAcBNIaAqNWEALw_wcB
Or this one ...
https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/pr...FNqRpWA6qgZvxbWD295LMqUkUx2xvDMoaAoorEALw_wcB

Can anybody answer a few questions for me please.

Are they a generic fit or do I need an adapter face plate thing?

If I find one that has sat nav facilities will this be compatible with the car, is that a feature that is inbuilt in the stereo or does the car need a certain technology to allow this?

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm trying to do as much of this as I can myself.

Thanks in advance!
Ellie

Those are double DIN units and I think FL1s are single DIN units.

Does this help?

Deiseldog69 thanks for the video. It looks like this one rather than the one on the video

I've found a video that confirms mine is double DIN. It's 7x4'

You've answered my first question & I've learnt something new. Thanks!

Are there limitations for the features that work with old cars? Or is all that taken care of in the stereo?
Thanks

All functions are pretty much taken care of by the radio these days but be sure to get them to show you and explain the instructions for you, I see your radio was the CD and basic am fm stereo so there will be no internal mic for the phone option but the stereo will auto adjust for the phone so you need to make sure that there is a mic for the phone in the fitting kit.

But aside from that the touch screen stereo looks to be the ideal fit although it is only a multimedia unit not satnav. If you do find the multimedia/satnav unit it will be pretty much self contained and just the love child of a TomTom and the multimedia stereo lol
