Upgraded to a 300 - Stereo trouble, please help!

Just bought a stunning 1994 ES Disco yesterday. It is fitted with a DC802 6pack CD changer but previous owners have put a JVC head unit in it which doesn't work on the dash controls and is frankly an eye sore. Does anyone know the part number for the head unit for a '94 'M reg' that is compatible with this CD player. I think it should start something like AMR.....

I have a96 300Tdi ES which has the 6 stack. The head unit on mine is a Philips if thats any help. Check out the thread on free manuals, download a copy and see if its in there.
 
If its any help I can get the Philips model number off mine. Its easy to pull out because I havent pushed it back in fully due to a problem with the cable going to the changer which causes the RH channel to go off occasionally. The thing with a more modern unit like the JVC is that it probably has an input for an ipod or mp3 which will hold infinitely more CDs than the thing under the seat! Perhaps you shouldnt be hasty?
 
Cheers but it's the nickable value of it it looks like a big silver advert to smash a window, it also shines at night like a fog light, and is all silver plastic, oh and it doesn't like terry wogun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Seriously you don't i've no idea how to post pics but the shine off it would blind you it doesnt work with dash controls and i hate having to take the face off all the time. oh and it says bye or hi to you, it doesnt even say sir!!!!!!!!!!!! how ignorant made in poland no doubt

OK I believe you. I had an Aiwa one in the Mondeo I had before the disco and that was a real pain. It said hello and goodbye but wouldnt show you what track you were listening to and storing channels was next to impossible.

Anyways, go to your user profile - 'user cp' (contol panel) and click on edit signature (or avatar if you want an avatar pic) then you will have an option to upload from a url or upload from your pc. I managed it so I'm sure you will!
 
OK just done something hasty. Bought a Sony unit from Argos (049/0414) check it out. Not only does it plac CDs it plays CDs with MP3/Wav etc etc. And you can take the front cover off and it has a 1GB memory in it for mp3s you plug it in your pc with usb and put up to 500 songs in it. Good eh?

So if you or anybody wants my head unit and/or 6 stack CD changer make me an offer before it all goes on ebay. The cable between changer and head is no good and I cant be bothered taking everything to bits to get it out anyways. Anyone want it?
