I have a 1986 m Military defender. No power steering just wondering what is involved to upgrade to power steering.

What parts would I need? Box, pump, pipes, fluid res', ????

Could I get from Discovery?

Did a quick search on 'power steering' see anything so sorry if already discussed to death.

Easy conversion and one of the first things I did to my ex-MOD 90 15-years ago.

You can source all the parts separately and I know some people use Disco parts but I just bought a Defender "kit" (take off) and it all bolted straight on.
Biggest problem will probably be removing the crankshaft bolt to replace the pulley but if you have a crankshaft locking tool (I have) then it is the work of a couple of minutes.
With all the correct parts you should have the old box off and the new set-up fitted & working in about 3Hrs.
Consider checking / replacing the column UJ's while you are in there.

Thanks, was not sure if it was a job I would regret starting!!! When you say kit assuming s/h parts from a breakers?!

WANTED ===== If anybody has parts to do this would be interested. As I am new to forum I cannot post a WANTED add. Can collect Hampshire area.
