Well I have at last got my new toy - Freelander 2 2007 td4 and she is lovely. The only pain is the Sat Nav software is really out of date.

I have looked on-line and to update the software via my local LR dealer is £139+vat .... and that is just an update.

Does anyone know if there is a cheaper way to do this or is it LR or live with the old maps?

:cool2:

Thanks for the reply......

It seems there are more choices than just ditching the in-built LR Sat Nav or paying LR huge amounts of money.

Sat Navi is selling "back-up" copies of maps which although not ethical if you do not have the license may help. One of my team at work has purchased some of him for a Jag and a BMW and has had no issues.

eBay seems to be the other market - a rather prolonged search revealed a set of CD fo rthe latest version going to £60 - stripped from a salvage vehicle.

So I think I will give these a go first before ditching the in-built Sat Nav.

Interesting.....

Got a copy of the Sat Nav software from Sat Navi and installed the disk and after about 20 mins it was updated and working.

BE WARNED - while updating it looks like the Nav has stopped working as it has it is updating but after the update it works fine.

Very prompt service, very clear instructions... put the DVD in and wait.

No complaints here.......

PS: I will see what the "salvaged" version is like when it arrives and if any good then one will go on eBay.

Well my journey from Cambridge to Papworth Everard takes me via a new dual carriageway and that is there, it has all the new post codes, it has the new interface, the new dual carriageway on the way to Kingslynn is there.....

I have been driving for 30 years and had a sat nav ever since they came out and so far this is doing all that is says on the tin.

Will report back in a week.
