Posted a while ago about this problem but had no replies, looking back I think I could have described it better, so going to have another go :)

When I am driving along, and I take my foot off the accelerator, I get an unbalanced swaying motion/feeling, and the LR kind of jerks back and forth.

It feels like there is something spinning, which has a weight attached to the circumference that is spinning the other way and throws it off balance.

It stops after about 3-5 seconds but seems to assist in the engine breaking and slows it down a bit to fast in my opinion.

This doesn't happen if I let my foot off the accelerator and straight away press my clutch, which makes me think it's a gearbox or flywheel problem?

I could make a video tomorrow if that would help.

Thanks in advance!

Could be further down the dive train ... rubber coupling on the rear prop ?

A-frame bush ? - any of the rear suspension, sounds like the axle is 'wriggling' ...

Have you popped under it and had a look ? Checked the prop UJs ?

I checked the UJs whilst still on the vehicle didn't feel much play but when I spun the prop with the car in neutral it would spin about 45 degrees.

I've only just got round to getting a new set of ring spanners and plan on getting under it Sunday when I'm off, when I tried last time with sockets I couldn't get them on the nuts.

It's good to have a little list though of things I can check instead of looking at it blind.

The Disco has a leaning problem, seems like it's only got 1 shoe on, called her Ilene, think this may be suspension shock problem you think it could be related?

Thanks

That's so funny you could not make **** like that up. :hysterically_laughi

Bushes and a misplaced or dislocated spring, possibly snapped. Corroded body mounts can also make it lob sided, time for a poke about underneath.

Check that the tie rod mount on the axel is attached properly and isnt cracked, I agree it sounds like something is moving when it shouldn't be!

Going to get my scruffs on tomorrow morning and have a pokey pokey so will report back!

I've got a bent drag link with a knackered ball joint (rubber is split so I'm guessing it's knackered! Do you think that could be a possible cause?

Ordered the heavy duty drag link and track rod with 4 new ball joints so will be cracking on with that as soon as they come!

Shouldn't be any play in the UJ's. Could you also feel a slight 'knock' in the play? If so the UJ's are probably nackered

proptool Is a fantastic tool .. You do know the prop bolts/nuts are imperial???

Could be, but just as likely to be maybe a rusted bodymount, broken, old/soft or displaced spring.

Thanks
