Hi,

Im looking for ideas for what to do when it comes to removing the rubber thats under the carpet, the idea of this is to eradicate water that wont dry once in the vehicle.
The rubber surely acts as a sound reducer = noisey ride without it.

What have you done to reduce road sound in your vehicle and how well does it work?

I lifted the carpets, cut what I couldn't remove in one piece and turned the radio up a notch. If you put MTs on it you'll generate more noise than the sound proofing would have killed anyway.

Plus I usually drive with the window open.

Haven't gone deaf yet :D but if I'd wanted silence I'd have bought a Jag.

Sorry MTs ?

I'm getting the wifes old ones when her horse moves stables so mine are free!! I think there's a range of mats with varying quality but you're not putting a horse on it so cheap matting should be OK.

I'll let you know how second hand horse mats smell as soon as they're fitted!

Afew ideas there to consider and i shall think about them thank you guys.

Iv'e not driven a disco without the under carpet rubber but i would emagine it to be quite noisey......i have removed the rubber before but the is still on me drive with no floor in it...lol

would the rubber boot liner mates you can get for on top work as good sound proofing / insulation if you put one or 2 thinner ones underneath the carpet.

I know its not breathable material but they wouldnt absorb and hold as much water as a the spongey foam ones.

Too thin - no sound deadening.

Most common replacement material is either Stable matting or camping mats.
