I really want to upgrade my original 4-spoke Defender wheel with something a bit smaller. The wheel seems far too big and I'm sick of banging knees and elbows...it's the same size as what I had on my Series III but that didn't have PAS!

Liking the price of the Tyrex items, and also the size...a fairly sensible 15". Any experiences? I love the look of the Sport wheel although I have to concede in an early 110 the Classic might be a better match.

I also like this F2 wheel, but at under 14" surely that's far too small, right?

All I can add is that my mountney wheel is 13" ish on my 200 110 and its fine, Doris has no problems with it either and she's a puny thing.

I have the T2 fitted. It's a nice wheel to hold, but there is A LOT of flex in it.
I am also still not convinced I like the smaller wheel, which is why I have also been thinking about a 15" Tyrex.
I'd really nice a nice leather XS wheel, but I changed my original as I kept hitting my hand on my knee when manoeuvring.

No, I believe he is referring to these ones...

Yep, spot on sir.

I did actually order one, and I briefly fitted it. I do like the look of it and the quality's pretty good for the price. However I lost the self cancelling feature on the indicators, and although I got more elbow room in one way, the boss supplied brought the wheel too close to me so effectively I lost it again. So I took it off...mainly due to the lack or self cancelling indicators which really bugged me. And then the vehicle came off the road for weeks but that's another story...

Anyway, the supplier sent me some roll pins so I'm going to have another go with it tomorrow and drive it for a while and see how I get on. I have a sneaking suspicion the ideal combo for me is a 15" wheel and a slimline boss.

If you are thinking of one of these, don't buy (IMHO) a 14" wheel...that's smaller than what is on my Porsche and looks daft (IMHO) in a Land Rover. Also, the "classic" wheel looks a lot sportier in the flesh than it does in the pics and suits it well...unless you are really wanting to do pimp/Twisted I'd not go for the sports one. And there's also a seller on eBay who does a replacment LR logo badge/horn push too.

Sure, I'll take a pic if I fit it tomorrow. On my early 110, it was possible to bend the stalks, so "finger distance" wasn't the issue, it just felt a bit close to my chest. But I'll stick with it for a bit before going for a slimline boss. At the end of the day it can only be 25mm slimmer so hardly a huge difference!

Would love to see a pic of it once fitted if possible ;)

As requested sir. Took a bit of faffing but I've got the wheel central and the indicators self cancelling with the aid of the roll pin.

I do really like the look of it, it does suit the Defender interior really well, slightly sporty/rally without getting all Fast & The Furious 9. The eBay LR logo is an easy straight swap for the Tyrex version too. It is a bit bendy at the top to be honest, so if you were hardcore off roading you might be better with a more expensive wheel, however they are cheap as chips so you pays yer money and all that...

Still think it's a bit too close...I'm getting used to it but I'd like straighter arms. If anyone has a slimline boss, and can give me some comparative measurements I'd be very grateful. I guess the key measurement would be to remove the horn push, lay a straight edge across the hole, and then measure from the end of the steering column to that straight edge.

Alongside my shiny knobs (oo-er missus) and logo'd seats it adds a bit of understated bling to the cab of a 30 year old ex-RAF 110SW. Just need to add my CB, and probably replace the central surround around the wiper/lighter with an ally one with some auxilliary switches. My porky-telling temp gauge is coming out this weekend to be replaced by a SPA dual digital water/oil temp gauge...sender thread adaptors are inbound from Steve Parker as I type this.

I went for a Momo Quark and it is lovely in your hands and gives ace leg room due to it's d shape. You can get them.for about 90 quid if you shop around.
