Opinions on tyres please. In looking for roughly 60% road, 40% offload. Currently running Insa Turbo Dakars (they were on when I bought the truck), and they are terrible. I still want the beefy Landy wheel look.

All terrains for your use. Muds are more off road biased. I am on my second set. Last 100k ad handle well if you drive it like a Land Rover rather than a sports car.

I've been looking at them but they're out of my price range. What about Cooper Discoverer at3s?

Here you go

Not used them. They seem to get good write ups though. If new bfg is out of your price range it would be worth looking at part worn sets or wheel sets online. You can get some bargains. My first set were new take offs at about half the price of new ones.

I'll have to have a look on the bay.

"I still want the beefy Landy wheel look...……….. .They look the part though."

Strange how times move on.
In the past tyres were chosen for performance (wet / dry / tarmac / off-road / snow / longevity / cost etc), now it appears that they are chosen purely for looks.

For me it will always be BFG AT (265/75x16).
Bought a set for my 90 and they were just about the perfect tyre. They gripped well, gave excellent handling, a comfortable ride and despite the relatively high purchase cost gave fantastic value for money as they were tough (only ever had one puncture) and lasted stupid mileages. I ran them for the best part of 15-years and the set shown below were about to be replaced due to age, not because they were worn out.
The current KO is also a good tyre but I never felt it was quite the same as the original model and I felt no loyalty when I came to replace them.
Currently running Cooper STMaxx. Road manners are not quite as good as the BFG but it is a slightly more aggressive tyre (so would probably suit you in the looks department) and is still very competent on the road so there is no loosing it on wet roundabouts (not like my old 9.00x16 bar-grips!!!!!).

Looking at the photos below, the eagle eyed amongst you will probably notice the white lettering on the KO & STMaxx.
It is actually an offence to have the while lettering on the outside (i.e showing for all the world to see) which will result in you having your vehicle confiscated and suffering a lifetime of ridicule.
If you are guilty of this heinous crime...……. buy yourself a hairdresser's car you Muppet!

Original style BFG AT (265/75x16).

Where do you get this offence to have white lettering from? I've done a search and can't find anything.

Sod that, noisy as hell, fuel economy is crap, and lost the back end a couple of times on roundabouts. They look the part though.

I think you are driving it like a car. Dakars are fine for normal landrover use, it is never going to corner like a sports car. If you are losing the back end, you are either driving too hard on bends, or the tyres are pumped up too hard, or both.

Also, if you forget about what you think looks good, and think about what the tyre is actually doing, you will go for something taller and thinner, which will be better off road, burn less fuel on road, and probably be less noisy.

What size would you recommend? My wheels are 16's.

Also this is not driving it like a normal car, I have been driving Landys for almost 20 years in the Army, and used to fam people up on driving them on and off road. I lost the back end at well below normal road speeds.
