Tyres.

Hey everyone.

Got the old girl back from LRR (london range rovers lrr.co.uk) and they've done a good job on her with a few things on the report which she's getting done in fortnight. Before I take her back I need to get some next tyres on her.

She's got 4 different ones on her and there's some wear on the inside, she's going back in for suspension / anti-roll bar / ball joint work so the new tyres and then tracking should make her ride lovely. (Not that she doesn't already!)

Anywho, I've had a look and these look decent:
Nexen Roadian Hp - 255-50-20-V - etyres

C for fuel economy and B for rain braking, the only difference between these and the pirelli's is 3db and £70 a tyre. (that's another £280!!!)

I have no problem putting non premium tyres on a car, I don't drive like a dick and for them to be sold in the UK / EU they've got to be approved / safe etc. I've never put the cheapest on but usually mid range and been very happy. I've just not had a big bus like the old girl so wanted to make sure these weren't terrible tyres?

I can recommend the Nexen's, have them on my P38, got them from wil2813 on here

They are quiet and the directional stability is fantastic, even with a shagged track rod there was no wander, with the Goodyear Wranglers it used to tramline badly by comparison.

To be fair I'm still getting used to driving a big bus. I've only ever had saloons other than the brutal landys we used to drive in the RAF but they didn't go faster than 50 in the first place!

Turning corners takes a little more planning in one of these than my old 3 series estate. I did have a 7 series sport but she was like a fat bird in a dinghy!

I would add my mate has them on his L322, and he likes them too, I assume from your tyre size you have an L322?

I had Nexens on two of my P38's with no issues and I currently have Iota Accelera on the L322...not premium but I also don't drive like a complete tit, and I much prefer a leisurely air ride to a hammering, bat out of hell death ride!

I prefer to buy good tyres than pay through the nose for a heavily advertised brand with inferior performance in the EU stats

So many people seem to think that if they don't buy a premium brand they're putting themselves at risk. It's ridiculous how much extra they are for very little improvement.

If you look at the ratings for wet grip, fuel consumption, noise levels, life expectancy etc, the Big brands are often worse than the cheaper stuff.

Big + 1 on the Nexen Roadian HP's on the 322, superb grip, quiet and wear very well too........oh and they're cheap !!

Was on my second set of nexens when I got rid of my td6. The first set did about 25k miles and still had about 3.5 mm left. For value for money they are excellent and when my tdv8 is up for a set of tyres thats what I'll be getting

They called me yesterday to see if I was around (etyres) and said they could do them there and then if I wanted. Went for a run to Essex and back and they feel great. Shame I think I've got a transmission overheating issue now...

Still, she's going back in for suspension work and tracking etc. so I'll get that sorted as well (I hope).

I paid £100 a corner fitted at a local tyre firm which was cheapest around

I was happy with what I paid for them.

which is half what i paid for my scorpions and from what i hear they are just as good if not better.....

im £90 ea fitted

Ok then I got em for free with some off road wheels thrown in and a set of winter tyres in the depot ready for October...
