Hi
I need some new tyres on my 1977 swb Series 3 and as I'm new to this, I,m not too sure of the options.

Its fitted with 7.50 16 at the moment but the side walls are badly cracked.

What are my options for tyre size for a good all round tyre on and off road.

I have seen the following advertised, would they fit ?

1. - Pirelli Scorpion 285/75/R16 122R

2. - 7.5J 16"

Cheers

hello mate , the only advice i can give is that i have just restored a 74 landy swb and i fitted avon traction milage they would have been standard at the time and they "look right" ,but a bit skinny on a swb rim but a nice tyre i believe a company called classic tyres have started making them again i have security 750 16s on my millitary just to keep with the original pattern of the standard goodyears and they are not too bad

Thanks for the replies :) I now know I should have read thru the forum first - sorry.:eek:

I have managed to get a full set of wheels and tyres (7.50 X 16) from off ebay :) but would like to repaint the rims. What is the correct wheel rim colour and where can I get some.

Cheers

i have a couple of questions

1 has your speedo been re-calibrated to the tyres or been swapped wor a lwb one?

2what is the intended use for the vehicle mostly road and light offroad or some road and heavy offroad?

3what other modifications have been done to the vehicle?

hello mate , it depends on what colour you want them to be , the 74 i restored i done them done in sandstone you can get it from most paint suppliers the rims i had were also used so i got a wire cup brush on a drill and took off all the old paint, you can apply the sandstone by brush but be warned that the red primer that will need to cover the bare metal should be left atleast a week to dry properly as i rushed my first attempt to paint the rims and although the primer felt dry it wasnt and reacted with the paint and the first paint job was ruined and had to be done again hope this helps

Wolf rims, and G90s good combo on and off the road

There old new ones, i will explain..... when a new Landy comes in some people want more bling on there Landys, (defenders) so they change the wheels and the tyres for whatever they want, then these are up for sale, i got them (doe a set of 4) at the old sodbury sortout for £200 not bad for rims and new tyres, anyway i had them on my stand, and sold them for £300 went back bought a set of 5 and had change!!! not a bad day, the guy bought them off me at the end of the day, and they had only been on my stall for less than 1/2 hour, i only i had known how easy it was to sell them, i would have bought them early and made a bloody fortune sell them off all day :D and it was a nice day too, i have had them for a few years now and they run good not a lot of noise and excellent off road, the rims were white when i got them so i sprayed them black

and the wheels been balanced haha

Thats how they were when i got them ;)

They look really nice, love the stainless nuts! How much did you give for them?

They are Wolf rim nuts, you have to get the extra long studs to fit them, and drill out the drum and the hub (if your running standard stuff) but all easy to do, and all available from Paddocks
