Had scorpions on mine but cant remember which type, think they were quite road bias and handled well on the road but still pretty cabable for mild green laning. Main problem I had was they wore pretty quickly

What are you planning on doing P38? if its just road use then I hear good things about the vredstein rubber and they're on offer with camskill at the mo

there really only for raod use, i live in a rural area so will be going up hills and the odd bit of green stuff. we are prone to a bit of snow and i do live up a mountain!!

These tyres might suit your need's better, especially in the white stuff.

Pirelli Scorpion's are quite a soft compound rubber, fantastic grip but not great mileage.

Those ATR's are supposed to be good. I've had one good report (out of 1!) on a p38, but I know the Disco3 crowd are using them a quieter option over the AT2.

I use a road bias tyre on mine, but they are really good in the wet and even work in the snow. Hankook RH06 Ventus ST. However, my tyre guy says they are on backorder at the moment. The General UHP is a very similar tyre though. Both the Hankook and General Tyre are seen as mid range tyres, but in reallity they are much better than that.

I had four Bridgestones fitted, balanced and new valves etc. in Mullingar about two years ago for €600 all in, at Mileage Tyres.
Had to do a bit of "Negotiating" though, but not too much.
I have had no problem with them apart from one puncture...to be expected over here !!

What you U.K. guys have to take into account is that here in "Rip Off Ireland", there is no real competition and all retailers tend to p*ss in the same pot and sort the prices out in the local over a pint of the black stuff, whether it is a bag of cement or a set of tyres.
On items that can be posted I always get them delvered to my Sister in the UK and she posts them over here to me. After all the costs are taken into account I'm still £££'s in.
Hate to say it but the Irish take rip off prices on the chin and pay them instead of telling the sellers to feck off. They take ****e from the government lying down..moan like hell then accept it like lambs.
That's the way it has been and will be until they wake up to reality that someone is fleecing them big time, blaming it on shipping costs and the cost of doing business in Ireland...GET SOME BALLS YOU PADDIES !!!!!

Hi "J"..nah, I've been out with Er Indoors and had my quota !!:beer2::beer2::beer2::beer

Just happened to pick on a raw nerve, between brandies reading the post.

Perhaps because I am a Tight Git and British that I see things in a different light living over here.
For starters, I have many, many friends over here who whinge about how expensive things are in comparison to either "Up North" or "Across the Water". The official response is that it's down to "Operating costs". They still feed the pockets of the greedy bastids and moan about it AFTERWARDS after handing their cash over willingly beforehand.
O.K, I openly state that the people over here are A1 and you could not wish for better, that said, I get frustrated to see how they are willingly taken for a ride in purchasing everything from a loaf of bread to a set of tyres and yet despite the conception of the Paddies being "Cute Hoors", they will stand the three card trick lying down. The government is walking all over them and they can't or don't want to see it.
It's such a shame because the ordinary "Joe Soaps" are great people and deserve better instead of being ridden left right and centre,
They ought to take a couple of days away and see exactly how much they are being taken for a ride, a simple example is the local motor factor who is asking around the equivalent of £10 for an aftermarket oil filter for my P38..£4.00 max. in the UK.
Road tax for a 3.5 litre motor approx. €1300 (£1000)..need I say more??
My glass is getting empty...time for a refill:smokin::beer2::beer2:
Feck the motor repairs, I need to be a banker or property developer..the Taxpayer will keep me in the manner to which I ahave been accustomed.
Just read the ****e on Irish Independent News in Ireland & Worldwide | Irish Newspaper | News Stories Online - Independent.ie to see the pantomime that is taking place over here.

to be honest he's dead right, though i buy nearly everything from ebay from the uk. it saves me a fortune and especially driving a P38 you got to shop around. being VAT registered i can buy VAT free from the uk too! now thats a winner!!

I've run the AT2 since end of last year and think they are a good tyre. I upped the profile from a 55 to 60.

Dont know if this helps but I bought a set of RR sport alloys and tyres for £300 of ebay 3 years ago need new tyres so looked at ebay and there are sets on their going for 250 they come off new rr sports where the owner wants to upgrade - the tyre on mine are wrangler f1 for less than 80 quid a pop also have a spare set of whhels soon to be two no doubt. Might be worth a look for example 18" Range Rover L322 Vogue Alloy Wheels & Tyres on eBay (end time 08-Jul-10 20:07:42 BST) and these will end up selling for about 200quid with about 3/4 life tyres
