Hi All,

I know a lot of people come on here asking about tyres, but I am uncertain what to go for.

I am after 285/75/16 tyres, but uncertain between the three.

I like the look of the Silverstones, but they have only just started doing them.

I like the idea of the Coopers because they are quite hard wearing, but perhaps not as aggressive as I would like for off roading.

The yoko's, look like a good option, but don't know much about them.

I am interested in hearing what people think of these choices, Iespecially regarding tyre wear rates, actual real world tyre heights, and off road ability.

Many thanks

Stevd

How do you find the Coopers in the mud, ever had any issues where you cant get through where people with a more aggressive tread pattern can get through, such as fedima siroccos or insa turbos?

STT's bog up pretty quickly in heavy mud, have often got stuck at Tong where folks with Insa's just cake walk it though.

Thanks for that, its such a tough choice as they all have their merits.

Currently I have Recip Trials which I have been very pleased with there off road performance. That why I quite like the Silverstones as they are the nearest pattern I can find to them but they are only 265/75 and I would like as much extra height as possible.

Ill also have a look at the Hankooks cheers. I was attracted to the three I mentioned due to the price, there seems to be some good deals on them at the moment.

thanks for the hankook suggestion, just came across some 315/75/16 for a good price!! But are they too big for a disco, have people had issues with bearings etc running that size tyre?

Yes bearings won't last long with that tyre size. Not that important if the vehicle is just an off roader but on a road vehicle I could imagine it would be pretty unpleasant to drive without re-gearing etc.

There is a video on my channel showing cooper stt's in action - video titled off road winter 2013

With my sensible hat on, I should be going for the STT's in 285/75/16 which will be over £100 less to buy all the tyres, but I still seem to be swaying towards the 315/75 hankooks, just because they are BIG.

I know tyre manufacturers do vary the sizes, especially remoulds, despite what it says on the sidewalls. does anyone on here have the Hankooks, and how do they measure up. Are they as stated or a little smaller or larger?

Cheers
