Tyre Pressures

Hi all
On this site you all say the tyre pressures on my 02 td4 should be 30psi,I have just got a workshop manual and it says 26psi and if fully loaded put them up to 30psi.
Please could you tell me who is right or have I got to ring Haynes or Land Rover to find out.

Pressures were 30psi originally, then changed in 1999 to 26psi "for ride comfort/tyre wear" So 26 for everyday use and 30 for fully loaded.

I find 26psi way to low, 30psi on mine

Its a matter of 4 psi. Just put it up to 2.65bar

main stealer did my td4 at 30 psi .indipendent i use also 30 psi.i only have 15 inch wheels mind, could be different for larger sizes . tim

30 psi for me too, 26 psi is way too low in my opinion, they look flat.

run mine between 32 and 34, but it's well loaded and mostly motorway / dual carriageway, just try a bit of trial and error, or do a search for chalk test

I have 3 slow punctures on me car.
I pump up my tyres to 40+
That way I only have to pump them up Twice a week

I run my 195/80R15 boots at 28 psi for everyday use.

Up `em to 30 fully laden.

There is a whole series of calculations based on axle weights, rolling diameters, tyre widths et al to produce the "correct" tyre pressures. Having done all that the manufacturers use road testing to modify them for their own purposes.

This basically means that when you operate in specific conditions (motorways, heavily laden, snow) you should adjust them to suit if you understand the issues. The figures in the manuals are for plebs who can't think for themselves
