Hi, I posted this on Rangerovers.net with zero response. maybe someone can help from this forum. Any help or fault finding suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi, I need some assistance with my TPMS. I have a 2009 L322 Vogue TDV8 diesel. She has done 157 000kms. A month ago I bought a set of 19 inch rims for the vehicle since the range of semi off road tyres here in South Africa is very limited for the 20 inch rims (I had 2 side wall damages on gravel roads within a period of 3 months). I fitted the 19 inch rims with the existing tyres and drove around for about a month. The sensors were not fitted to the rims. Once I was happy I took the sensors out the 20 inch rims and fitted them to the 19 inch rims. I have a full size spare wheel with a sensor fitted.

I now expected the TPMS to reset its self and operate. However the unit now goes directly to the fault indication. When I start the vehicle the indicator flashes for a while and then to fault and the light stays on. I took it for a service today and the LR agents said that they can't fix it since the wheel sensors should have been marked when taken off the 20 inch rims and fitted in the same place for the 19 inch rims and they cannot calibrate the system. I find the explanation difficult to believe since you can move the spare around the vehicle and it is automatically recognised by the system. LR agents are suggesting I replace all the sensors and if that doesn't work then the module. I am sure there is a more cost effective solution to fault find the problem.

Any comments or suggestions will be welcome.

Regards,

Dave

On my after market TyrePal system the sensors are marked LHF RHF LHR RHR and are calibrated (by me) with different pressures front to back if you move them about it throws an alarm. I assume you need to replace them in the correct order, are they marked? and can you recalibrate the pressures in the car system?

if removed/fitted in rim correctly & not damaged as they are fragile they should work as before + you said previous sidewall damaged tyres in past & this is close to the tps sensors, the tpms will not work with a sensor down

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. After my side wall damage I fitted new tyre sand the units worked perfectly so I do not think there is damage there. Concerning the correct unit to be fitted to the correct position - Land Rover also told me this. However I also have a sensor fitted to the spare wheel and when the spare is fitted to the vehicle the system automatically accepts the spare in the new position no matter where it is.
I still have a system that is down. Anyone have a suggestion how to fault find the problem. Unfortunately I do not have workshop manual.
Regards,
Dave
