no tyre shops near me will do tubed tyres. and I got a flat.i was hoping to blast/repaint as i go.is it that hard to fit them with levers at home or is the way forward to get some rims that take tubeless??

Not a difficult job. Put yer big boots on and jump up n down on the tyre close to the rim to break the bead off the rim. Make sure you shove the tyre into the well of the rim and use levers to lift off. I had 3 puntures last year and repaired all of the and found no need to get rebalanced.

if the bead is really stuck, dump the wheel on the floor under the landie and use a high lift jack to force the tyre into the well.
use talc or proper rim lube (;)), washing up juice is bad for rims and tyres.
