Hello,

I am after some advice as a little unsure on what to do, Basically i had a set of 4 Grabber AT2 255 55 18 on my discovery 2 done about 500 miles and then managed to kill two of tyres sidewalls on a bad afternoon a few weeks ago. After not so long ago shelling out for 4 brand new AT2 wifey wasnt best pleased so i have picked up a set of 4 used Grabber AT tyres so not the AT2 but was a good price and i need to be back on the road.

So my question is do i take the two good AT2 off and keep them for when i can find two other matching AT2 and put the set of for AT on or Run the AT2 on one axle and then the AT on another i really cant decide what to do. Any recommendations on if i do have AT2 on one axle would they be best on the front or back or doesnt it really matter.

Any help on this would be great.

Cheers
Neil

From a differentials (axles and T Box) point of view it is preferable to have all 4 tyres with the same running circumference so they all rotate at the same speed and saves wear on the diffs. Run a tape measure around your old and new to see how much of a difference there is. Personally I'd stick all four on and look at get two new AT2 at some time in the future, as they only have 500 miles on them they could then be used as your next set of tyres.

As above, completely disregarding the size issue (if there even is one) Id just for the four matching tyres and save / sell the other two.

This sounds like a plan :) i will get all 4 of the part worn AT tyres on and then when i get 2 new AT2 later in the year i can get a full set on.

For the moment i have the two older AT tyres on the back. thinking of maybe getting a different set of wheels and having a mud terrain set for laning days and AT just for the rest of the time.
