Freelander 1. 2.0ltr XDi

Changed the oil today, got the sump guard off (piece 'o' crap that innit!) to reveal oil weeps around the IRD (guessing thet the IRD is the rearmost lump, behind the engine). No weeps on the engine sump and none around the gearbox.

1. How do ya put oil in the IRD? I can see the drain plug but no obvious filling point.

2. Car has a fairly low pitch whine when on the overrun (foot off the throttle) doesn't matter if clutch is in, or in/out of gear or freecoasting.

Indicates a running gear noise to me.......am I right or is the noise likely to be the IRD.

You can fill the IRD from the top somewhere i think. Can't remember where exactly but it's fiddly to get do. You'll want a bottle with a bit of pipe on it.

PM OldIrishWulf as it was his IRD we were filling up after doing a driveshaft.

IRD plug is hard to get too and Landrover use a special offset tool....prob help warming her up a bit on a run to make the plugs easier to remove.
